Tile Finishers work
together with Tile Layers to create installations of ceramic or stone tile. The
Finisher fills joints and cleans and polishes finished surfaces, which my
include showers, tubs, countertops, floors, stairs, building exteriors,
ceilings and others. They may also perform finish caulking. The Finisher does
most of the setting up of materials at the job and cleans up afterwards. They
mix all mortars, by machine or by hand using a mixing hoe. Tile Finishing is
very active work, and is often strenuous. It may involve scaffolding.
As a beginning Tile
Finisher, you will receive medical benefits for yourself and, later, for you
and your dependents, including medical, dental and vision care, and pension.
Your apprenticeship will consist
of 3500 hours on-the-job for five periods. After each period you are evaluated
for a wage increase, provided you also have completed the required hours at the
tile school.
Applications are accepted
on an ongoing basis.
