What is a Mill
Cabinet Worker?
The Cabinetmaker cuts, shapes and assembles wood products, including moldings, panels and furniture. They also fabricate store fixtures, which includes the use of metal, plastics, veneers, and glass. Many work on exhibits, display cases and Cabinets for high-end Architectural, Residential, Industrial and Commercial use. Cabinetmakers use hand tools and operates a number of CNC machinery, including power saws, planers, joiners and shapers.
An applicant for the 5-Bay Counties Millmen & Cabinet Apprenticeship Program must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, or seventeen (17) with written parental consent. There is no maximum age.
Applicant must be in good health and physically able to perform all phases of the work.
Applicant must have a high school diploma or a GED.
Our program is jointly sponsored by employers signatory to the A.C.M. Agreement and benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision Care, Vacation, Annuity and Pension.
The minimum term of Apprenticeship requires 48 months, 4800 work hours, and completion of 576 hours of related instructional classes taken at the Millmen/Cabinetmaker training center.
