What Is A Hardwood Floor Layer

This specialty carpenter installs and repairs all types of wood flooring.  This work could be residential (custom and tract homes) and commercial (high schools, universities, malls, office, sports arenas, etc.).  Much of this work requires knelling and bending.  The equipment necessary to finish wood flooring is heavy and physically demanding.

Qualifications/Requirements

Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Seventeen (17) years with guardian’s written permission. There is no maximum age.

Benefits

Our program is jointly sponsored by the contractors signatory to the United Brotherhood of Carpenters (U.B.C.) agreements and the U.B.C.   Benefits include medical, dental, vision care, vacation, annunity and pension.

Program

The minimim term of apprenticeship is 3600 work hours and the completion of 180 hours of related instructional classes taken at the carpenter training center over a 36 month period.
